The United States has prohibited Julian Assange from returning without explicit permission, the Justice Department announced on Tuesday. The Australian native, recently freed in a U.S. territory, has boarded a plane headed for Canberra.
“Under the terms of the plea agreement, Assange is banned from re-entering the United States without authorization,” stated the Department of Justice. Assange, the WikiLeaks founder, has been at the center of a lengthy international legal saga following his 2010 publication of thousands of classified U.S. documents.
