Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, widely known as Ayra Starr, expressed her lack of enthusiasm about winning an unpublicized category at the Headies awards.
She shared this sentiment on her social media page on Monday.
Ayra Starr clinched the Best Female Artist of the Year award at the recent Headies ceremony held in Atlanta.
In this category, she was in competition with renowned artists like Simi, Tiwa Savage, and Tems, who had claimed the honor in 2022.

She voiced her dissatisfaction, stating, “I will never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even considered important enough to be announced on stage! Best female artist, seriously?
“We put in the hard work, every single one of us! I’ve witnessed Tiwa recording four hit songs in a single night. Tems lives and breathes music.
“We shouldn’t settle for such indifference! Nigeria, you raised me to aim higher,” Ayra Starr expressed.
