Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice-President, has officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 general election, where he will go head-to-head with John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer. Dr. Bawumia is determined to provide strong competition and believes that his name alone strikes fear into the hearts of the NDC. He confidently stated, “Among NPP members, the one who makes the NDC uneasy is me, Bawumia. They can’t rest when they hear my name.”
Following his significant victory at the NPP Super Delegates Conference, where he secured nearly two-thirds of the valid votes (68%), Dr. Bawumia has emerged as a prominent contender to represent the NPP in the forthcoming 2024 elections.
Dr. Bawumia is actively engaging with the party’s founding members, demonstrating unwavering determination in his pursuit of the NPP’s flagbearer position.
This sets the stage for a competitive and closely watched political contest as Ghana approaches the 2024 general election.
