Kiddwaya, former Big Brother Naija housemate, has spoken up following mixed reactions to his recent fundraising effort for victims of the Benue attacks. As a proud indigene of the state, he said his intention came from a place of concern and love for his people—not personal gain.
Shortly after the tragic incident in Benue, Kiddwaya took to social media urging Nigerians to contribute to his foundation, encouraging even small donations, as low as ₦500. However, the message was met with criticism, prompting him to delete the post.
In a heartfelt update shared on Instagram, he acknowledged the backlash and the pain expressed by many, noting that he chose to take the post down—not out of regret for wanting to help, but out of respect for the concerns raised.
Kiddwaya described the situation in Benue as deeply heartbreaking, citing the loss of lives, displacement of families, and ongoing insecurity. He emphasized that he couldn’t stay silent in the face of such suffering.
“This isn’t about clout,” he wrote. “It’s about the people of Benue. What’s happening is devastating, and I couldn’t just scroll past it.”
He added that the Kiddwaya Foundation was created for moments like this—when help is urgently needed. While he understands he can’t solve the crisis alone, he reaffirmed his commitment to using his platform, voice, and resources to make a difference.
“I will keep showing up,” he said. “And when the dust settles, I hope we remember what truly matters: standing together, and never turning our backs when others are hurting.”
