On the evening of August 30th, prior to her performance at Levi’s Stadium, the Santa Clara City Council bestowed upon Beyoncé the title of honorary mayor in a special ceremony held on Tuesday, August 29th. Notably, Dr. Yvette Noel-Schure, the musician’s publicist, graciously accepted the key to the city on her behalf.
Michelle Templeton, a spokesperson, expressed the city’s enthusiasm for Beyoncé’s upcoming appearance at the renowned Levi’s Stadium, stating, “The city of Santa Clara is excited about Beyoncé’s upcoming visit to the world-renowned Levi’s Stadium. Her concerts will certainly bring a great deal of energy and excitement.”
The council’s official proclamation underscored the singer’s profound cultural influence as one of the most prominent figures in pop culture. It also spotlighted her remarkable achievement of 32 Grammy Awards and her dedication to philanthropic endeavors, including her co-founding of the Survivor Foundation and BeyGOOD.

Nonetheless, Beyoncé wasn’t the first music sensation to receive such an honorary title in Santa Clara. Taylor Swift was previously bestowed with this honor during her “Eras Tour” stop in July, even leading to a temporary rebranding of the city as “Swiftie Clara.” However, the anticipation was palpable for Beyoncé, especially since she is currently in the midst of her 56-date “RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR” and is set to celebrate her 42nd birthday this September.
Recently, the talented songstress took to Instagram to share her plans for celebrating her birthday month. In an Instagram Story, she encouraged her fans to don shimmering attire for the upcoming concerts.
In her own words, she wrote, “This tour has been such a joy, and as we approach the last month, my birthday wish is to celebrate with you wearing your most fabulous silver fashions to the shows [from Aug. 23 to Sept. 22]!”
“We’ll surround ourselves in a shimmering human disco ball each night. Everybody mirroring each other’s joy. Virgo season together in a house of chrome. See you there,” Beyoncé continued. “Your B at RWT.”
Other cities have also jumped on the “Beyoncé Day” bandwagon. Atlanta and Minneapolis have previously celebrated their versions of this day in alignment with her tour stops. Considering that Beyoncé commenced her arena tour in Stockholm last May and concluded the European leg in June, her U.S. tour promises a month filled with headline-worthy moments.
Billboard reports that the “RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR” has been her highest-grossing tour to date, consistently drawing high-profile attendees, including Vice President Kamala Harris, Madonna, and Oprah Winfrey.
