Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has appointed Hon. Gani Audu as his Chief of Staff. The appointment, announced on Friday, takes immediate effect.
The news was shared by Okpebholo’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, and officially confirmed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Musa Umar Ikhilor. The statement emphasized that Hon. Audu’s role would be pivotal in supporting the governor’s mission to implement impactful reforms in Edo State.
Audu, who was born on August 18, 1969, has an impressive academic and political background. He earned an HND from Auchi Polytechnic in 1994, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Benson Idahosa University in 2011. Most recently, he completed an M.Sc. in Intelligence and Global Security at Baze University, Abuja, in 2024.
His political career includes serving as Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council from 2004 to 2010 and representing Etsako West Constituency 1 in the Edo State House of Assembly from 2015 to 2023. He also ran as the deputy governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress in the 2020 Edo State Governorship elections.
