Relegation-threatened Everton has fired manager Frank Lampard after less than a year in charge at Goodison Park, according to British media on Monday.
The former Chelsea manager was appointed in January 2022 to replace Rafael Benitez, but he leaves with the club 19th in the table, level on points with bottom club Southampton.
In a sign of the turmoil engulfing Everton, club directors were ordered earlier this month to avoid Goodison Park due to perceived security risks.
Everton was defeated 2-0 by fellow strugglers West Ham on Saturday, their ninth loss in their last 12 Premier League games.
Club owner Farhad Moshiri, who was present at the game in London, was asked afterward whether Lampard should be fired.
“I’m afraid I can’t comment. “It’s not my decision,” he explained to Sky Sports.
“Those things are not my choice,” Lampard said of his own future. It is my responsibility to work, concentrate, and keep my head down.
“I’m aware of what’s going on at the club, but it’s never been a factor for me whether a chairman or a board member is present.”
