Buckingham Palace is set to host a landmark exhibition next year, celebrating the remarkable fashion journey of the late Queen Elizabeth II throughout her 70 years on the throne.
Described by British designer Erdem Moralioglu as “a time capsule of elegance and duty,” the collection offers a rare glimpse into the Queen’s evolving style across decades of history.
Titled “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style,” the exhibition will showcase around 200 outfits worn by the late monarch — with nearly half being displayed for the first time. Visitors will also get to see original sketches, complete with handwritten notes from both the Queen and her designers.
Fashion creatives Erdem Moralioglu, Richard Quinn, and Christopher Kane will feature in the exhibition, which opens in April 2026 at The King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace.
Reflecting on the Queen’s influence, Quinn described her as “a guiding light for British designers,” while Kane noted that “her wardrobe told the story of a nation through fabric, design, and craftsmanship.”
Among the standout pieces are the apple-green evening gown designed by Norman Hartnell, worn during a state banquet in Washington in 1957, as well as her iconic wedding dress and coronation gown — both timeless works by Hartnell.
Other highlights include her 1934 bridesmaid’s dress, riding attire, and even a clear plastic raincoat by Hardy Amies, which the Royal Collection described as “strikingly modern for its time.”
Curator Caroline de Guitaut praised the late monarch’s wardrobe as “a masterclass in symbolism and British craftsmanship,” reflecting her enduring connection to culture and heritage.
The exhibition will run from April 10 to October 18, 2026, with tickets now available for purchase.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2022, but her legacy — both in leadership and in style — continues to inspire generations around the world.
