On Wednesday afternoon, King Charles welcomed the president of Nigeria at Buckingham Palace. After the meeting, President Muhammadu Buhari told reporters that they had “primarily” discussed economic matters. King Charles, according to Mr. Buhari, was “extremely interested in Nigeria” and talked “quite well of Nigeria.”

The meeting was originally slated to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in June, according to the Nigerian leader, but it was postponed.
For what his staff described as a “regular medical check-up,” President Buhari has been in London since last week. Next week, he’s anticipated to return to Nigeria.
Later this month, when he receives the president of South Africa at Buckingham Palace, King Charles will host the first state visit of his reign.
The visit will be between November 22 and 24.
Since Jacob Zuma’s state visit to the late Prince Charles in 2010, it will be more than ten years since a South African leader has made an official trip to the UK.
