Following recent terror threats issued by numerous Western nations, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has called a meeting of the heads of security services on Monday in the capital, Abuja. The meeting was intended to assess and reinforce the security network throughout the nation, according to a statement from the presidency.
The UK and US had issued a warning last week that Islamist extremists were likely to target government buildings, houses of worship, and educational institutions in Abuja and its surroundings.

The US went a step further and gave the go-ahead for the evacuation of its people and non-essential personnel. The signals raised tension and concern among the populace nationwide. As they attempted to release some of their incarcerated commanders who were being kept at a camp in central Niger state, sources claim that a major leader of one jihadist group, Iswap, has been arrested and some militants have been murdered.
After running into a military ambush in New Bussa, Niger state, the militants were reportedly shot and killed by Nigerian soldiers.
