Buhari’s Final Journey Begins as Galadima Offers Forgiveness
The body of former President Muhammadu Buhari has left London and is en route to Daura, his hometown in Katsina State, where he will be laid to rest. The late leader’s remains were flown in on a Nigerian Air Force jet, marking the start of a solemn farewell.
Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at a private clinic in London after battling an undisclosed illness.
In a heartfelt gesture, Buba Galadima—an elder statesman and prominent figure in the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP)—has expressed his forgiveness towards Buhari. Despite their political fallout during Buhari’s presidency, Galadima emphasized that he held no grudge.
Speaking during an interview with DW International Radio, Galadima reflected on their shared history: “As someone who once stood by him politically, I have let go of any wrong he may have done, knowingly or not. We come from Allah and to Him we shall return.”
He admitted he was deeply shocked by the news of Buhari’s death. “I didn’t wish this for him. It’s a painful reality, but one we all must face eventually. I pray that God grants him mercy and forgives his mistakes.”
Galadima also acknowledged Buhari’s unwavering dedication to Nigeria, describing him as a man who genuinely believed in the country’s future and worked with conviction.
