The final rites for former President Muhammadu Buhari have been rescheduled to Tuesday, following updated information from Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda.
Contrary to earlier reports that suggested a Monday burial, Governor Radda clarified on Monday afternoon that, after consulting with the late president’s family and other key figures, the burial will now take place in Daura at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Buhari passed away on Sunday at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness in a London hospital.
His remains are expected to arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday, accompanied by a federal delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila. Acting on President Bola Tinubu’s directive, the delegation departed for the United Kingdom early Monday to retrieve the late leader’s body.
Upon landing in London, they were received by Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, among others.
As preparations continue, tributes have begun pouring in from across the country, with political figures, dignitaries, and former heads of state expected to gather in Daura to pay their final respects.
