The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will co-host the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). This exciting tournament will take place from February 1 to February 28, 2025, bringing the spotlight to East Africa. CAF has promised that the stadiums and training venues will be ready soon, with announcements to follow.
The qualifiers for the 2024 CHAN will kick off from October 25-27, 2024, with the return leg scheduled for November 1-3, 2024. The second round of qualifiers will follow on December 20-22 and December 27-29, 2024. Although Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will participate in the qualifiers, they’ve already secured automatic spots in the tournament as host nations.
This co-hosting arrangement adds extra excitement to the competition, which is specifically designed for players competing in their domestic leagues. The tournament has been held since 2009, but Nigeria’s CHAN Eagles have yet to claim victory. DR Congo and Morocco lead the pack with two titles each, while other past winners include Tunisia, Libya, and reigning champions Senegal.
With the stage set and anticipation building, this CHAN tournament promises to be a thrilling celebration of African football.
