In Botswana, people have complained that they cannot join the army if they are married.
The Botswana Defence Force (BDF) advertised “extremely restricted” officer cadet positions with a requirement that applicants be single in a Facebook posting. In addition, applicants should not be legally obligated to support any children, the army stated in the public notice. The army has been pushed to change that rule by a segment of the public who claim it is discriminatory.
