It’s been two months since Takeoff died, and Cardi B is reliving that terrible day.
For the first time, the “Up” rapper spoke candidly about the heartbreaking moment she and Offset learned that the Migos rapper had been shot and killed. After their daughter Kulture vomited on Cardi’s costume at La La Anthony’s Halloween party in New York, the couple went home. They were both sleeping when they noticed their phones continued to ring.
Offset answered before the voice on the other end broke the heartbreaking news. “He just says, ‘No!'” “And he’s screaming and screaming,” Cardi recalled on “The Jason Lee Show.”
Cardi inquired as to what was going on before hearing, “Takeoff is dead.”
Cardi was stunned and responded by smacking Offset. “Don’t say that,” she said before realizing she had said it.

“He was screaming and throwing things and throwing up and running all over,” Cardi explained. “I was terrified. I was sobbing uncontrollably. It was dreadful.”
Offset has been in a “dark place” since losing his cousin in the November 1 shooting in Houston. “Shit not easy fake smiling and shit tryna keep walking with my head up,” he said last month on Twitter.
Cardi opened up about her difficult grieving process on Instagram Live. “We’re living our lives normally, but our hearts are so heavy,” she explained. “I’ve been feeling so helpless trying to make my husband happy, trying to make him smile, fu**in’ seeing him cry at random, trying to distract his mind.”
Cardi B appeared in court on Tuesday for her strip club brawl case after pleading guilty in September. She avoided jail time as part of her plea bargain in exchange for community service. She did not complete her 15 days of service by the deadline, so the judge extended her sentence until March 1.
