On Thursday, Celine Dion announced the devastating and surprising news that she has been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, an extraordinarily rare and fatal condition.
As the name implies, the illness causes the body’s muscles to constrict, and over time, it gets worse and worse, finally making persons who have it look like statues, frequently incapable of moving their bodies at all. Although there is presently no cure for the illness, there are a few techniques to halt its progression and lessen its symptoms.
Dion bravely shared the information on Instagram with the caption: “Long-standing health issues have made it extremely difficult for me to face these difficulties and to open up about what I’ve been going through. I hate to break the news to you, but I won’t be prepared to resume my European tour in February.”
“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through”
The condition has prompted her to postpone her European tour.
The singer admitted that the spasms already have an impact on her day-to-day activities. Sadly, she stated, “These spasms interfere with every area of my daily life, sometimes making it impossible for me to walk and preventing me from using my vocal cords to sing the way I used to.”
Dion reassured me that she is collaborating closely with her medical staff and that her immediate family is providing her with a lot of support.
After dealing with her husband’s passing in 2016, the Canadian singer is now dealing with yet another tragedy.
