Chelsea’s standout player this season, Cole Palmer, has praised coach Mauricio Pochettino for the team’s significant improvement in the Premier League. Despite a season marked by challenges, Palmer has emerged as a key player, delivering goals and assists that have lifted Chelsea’s performance.
Palmer, a 22-year-old attacking midfielder, joined Chelsea from Manchester City in September 2023 for £40 million. In his current season, he has scored 22 Premier League goals and provided 10 assists in 33 league games. These contributions have propelled Chelsea from 12th to 6th place, easing the pressure on Pochettino from the fans.
As Chelsea prepares for their final Premier League game against Bournemouth, a win would secure their 6th place finish and a spot in the Europa League.
In an interview with Chelsea’s official website, Palmer, who is a contender for both the Premier League Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards, expressed his optimism: “For it to be in our hands to secure sixth place is big for us. Hopefully, we can achieve it. Chelsea is a big club, and while everyone aims higher than sixth, we must acknowledge where we started this season.”
He continued, “We’ve been in 13th and 12th place this season. Last season was similar, so getting back into Europe is a step in the right direction. Big credit to the manager because all the players respect him, and we fight for him. It’s been a good season, and hopefully, we can secure European football at the end of it.”
