Cassie Faces Intense Questioning in Court as Trial Against Diddy Continues
Cassie, born Casandra Ventura, is preparing for a tough round of questioning this Thursday as she returns to the witness stand in the ongoing trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Over the past two days, the singer opened up to the jury about deeply painful experiences she says occurred during her long relationship with Combs. In her testimony, she described years of abuse—claims of sexual assault, violent outbursts, and being pushed into disturbing, drug-fueled encounters.
Now, Diddy’s defense team is set to push back. They’re expected to argue that Cassie’s actions were voluntary and that what happened between them, while complicated and at times abusive, doesn’t meet the legal definition of sex trafficking.
“You can’t be trafficked in your own sex life,” attorney Teny Geragos said earlier this week, outlining the defense’s position.
At 55, Combs—once a towering figure in music and entertainment—now faces serious allegations. Prosecutors say he wasn’t just living recklessly, but orchestrating a secret network built on coercion, violence, and control.
Cassie, now 38 and currently pregnant with her third child, has become a central voice in the trial. Her account is chilling. She described years of manipulation, where wealth and power were used to trap her in a cycle of abuse. She told the jury about so-called “freak-offs,” disturbing group sex encounters she says she was forced to take part in—sometimes lasting days, sometimes filmed, always under pressure.
One incident in 2018 stands out. Cassie described the moment when, during a tense breakup, Combs raped her in her own home. It wasn’t the only violent episode she shared.
Jurors were shown hotel surveillance footage from 2016 that captured Combs physically assaulting her—punching, dragging her, and leaving her on the floor. When asked why she didn’t fight back, she said lying still felt like the only safe option.
Just days after that brutal attack, she was back in the spotlight, attending a movie premiere with visible injuries she tried to hide with sunglasses.
Her voice during testimony was calm but emotional. She didn’t shy away from the psychological toll—speaking about the post-traumatic stress, substance dependency, and moments of despair she experienced throughout the relationship.
The defense admits Combs’ behavior may have crossed lines but maintains that it doesn’t amount to the criminal enterprise prosecutors are alleging. Combs has denied all accusations.
Cassie’s testimony is expected to continue through the week, with the trial itself likely stretching into the coming months.
