Veteran actor Segun Arinze has shared that he and fellow Nollywood star Emeka Ike have put their past conflict behind them and are on good terms again.
Speaking in an interview with QEDNG, Arinze opened up about their fallout, which stemmed from a leadership issue within the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) back in 2009. He explained that the disagreement wasn’t personal and ended naturally, as both of them moved on with their lives.
Reflecting on their friendship, Arinze said, “Emeka Ike is a great actor. We still talk and laugh about it all. It was never really about a fight—just a difference in leadership roles. Life goes on, and we’re both doing well. Hate is too heavy to carry around.”
Arinze also took a moment to acknowledge some of his industry colleagues, including Olu Jacobs, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Ramsey Nouah, praising their ability to avoid being stuck in one type of role and continue growing as actors.
Addressing the idea of competition in Nollywood, Arinze dismissed it completely, stressing that the industry is big enough for everyone to thrive. “There’s no point in rivalry,” he said. “When I see my colleagues achieving great things, it makes me genuinely happy. You can’t play every role, and you can’t be everywhere at once. It’s about teamwork and celebrating each other’s success.”
