Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Others Cleared in MohBad’s Death Investigation
A Lagos court has officially cleared Naira Marley, Sam Larry, PrimeBoy, and MohBad’s former manager of any involvement in the late singer’s passing.
Court Decision on the Case
During a hearing at the Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, on February 25, 2025, the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) advised that Naira Marley and the others should be acquitted. Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje implemented the legal directive, effectively freeing them from the case.
Music promoter Samson Balogun (Sam Larry), Owodunni Ibrahim (PrimeBoy), and former manager Opere Babatunde have also been released from any legal implications related to MohBad’s death.
However, the DPP has recommended prosecution for Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who administered injections to MohBad before his passing, along with Ayobami Sadiq, one of the singer’s friends. They will face charges of reckless and negligent acts under Lagos State’s Criminal Law and will be tried at the magistrate court.
Naira Marley’s Legal Battle with Iyabo Ojo
Meanwhile, Naira Marley is pursuing a legal case against Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, accusing her of libel. The singer is demanding ₦500 million in damages and a public apology over statements she made in September 2023, which his legal team claims were defamatory and damaging to his reputation.
His lawyers argue that Ojo’s comments falsely implied that Naira Marley was responsible for MohBad’s death, leading to public backlash against him.
Bail and Ongoing Developments
It’s worth noting that Naira Marley and Sam Larry were previously granted bail by a Yaba Magistrate’s Court on November 6, 2023.
With the latest court ruling, they have now been fully cleared in the MohBad case, but other legal matters surrounding Naira Marley continue to unfold.
