The Federal High Court in Lagos State has dismissed the Naira abuse case against popular bartender Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest. Previously, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged him on April 17 with offenses related to mishandling and spraying of naira notes, which violate Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
Cubana Chief Priest pleaded not guilty and was granted bail set at N10 million. During subsequent hearings, both parties explored a settlement under Section 14(2) of the EFCC Act, leading to the withdrawal of a preliminary objection by the defense, unopposed by the prosecution and approved by the court.
In an Instagram post, Cubana Chief Priest expressed gratitude that the case was dismissed on June 25, and he has been cautioned and discharged. He urged his followers not to damage naira notes, emphasizing responsible handling.
