Renowned singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, received special recognition from Atlanta’s Mayor, Andre Dickens, for his outstanding contributions to the entertainment scene in the city.
After Davido’s headline performance at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta during the A.W.A.Y Festival, the Mayor and the Atlanta City Council designated November 18 as “Davido Day” in appreciation of the singer’s impact.
In a heartfelt birthday message to Davido on November 21, the Mayor acknowledged the artist’s global influence in the music industry, describing him as someone who has “dazzled audiences worldwide” and become an icon. The Mayor expressed gratitude for Davido’s multifaceted contributions as a singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate. He highlighted Davido’s remarkable career, numerous accolades, and ongoing efforts to give back to communities in the United States and across Africa.
The Atlanta City Council also issued a statement, declaring, “Be it resolved that we, the members of the Atlanta City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2023, as Davido Day in the City of Atlanta.”
