Davido Opens Up About Coping with the Loss of His Son and Finding Strength in Music
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Davido, has shared his experience dealing with the tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
In a recent interview, the DMW boss discussed how he managed to release his album, “Timeless,” despite going through such a heartbreaking event. Contrary to expectations, Davido chose to fill the album with upbeat and energetic songs instead of dwelling on sadness.
Although he has overcome the darkest period of his son’s passing, Davido admitted that he still sheds tears every morning. However, he emphasized the importance of staying strong for his wife, Chioma, and those who believe in him.
Davido expressed, “Every day, I miss him. Tears well up in my eyes every morning, even if you can’t see it. When I look at myself in the mirror, I realize that it’s not just about me. I know how many people love me and depend on me. My son up there is watching over me. Besides being strong for his mother, which is my primary responsibility, I have to be strong for the world.”
He further shared that many expected his album to be filled with sorrowful songs, but he chose to deliver an array of captivating tracks. Davido believes that his son and late mother are dancing together in heaven, providing him with the inspiration to rise again and excel in his work.
The artist credits his reliance on God as a source of strength and guidance during this challenging time. He expressed gratitude for the alignment of circumstances and how it has positively impacted his performance and business ventures.
