Davido Bows Out of 50 Cent’s London Concert, Cites Integrity Over Hype
Afrobeats heavyweight Davido has officially pulled out of 50 Cent’s much-anticipated Legacy Tour stop in London, where he was set to share the stage with icons like Mary J. Blige. The show, scheduled for July 3 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, will still go on — just without one of its biggest names.
Taking to Instagram Stories on Saturday, Davido cleared the air: this wasn’t about low ticket sales. In fact, demand was strong. But according to him, the decision to walk away came down to something deeper — principle.
“There have been major misalignments in how this event is being put together,” he shared. “Key elements that ensure the quality of my performance haven’t been addressed, and it compromises the integrity of what I stand for.”
Despite putting in the work and collaborating with event organizers from The Neto Future Group and Iconic Presents, Davido said he couldn’t ignore the unresolved issues. “My team and I have given our all in preparing, and I truly appreciate everyone who bought tickets hoping to see me. But this is about respect — for my music, for the culture, and most importantly, for my fans.”
He closed on an upbeat note, reassuring his global fanbase that this is just a pause — not a stop. “London, I’ll be back soon, I promise! The rest of my summer shows are locked in — see you in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, and the U.S. Africa must be respected.”
Even when he’s not on the stage, Davido keeps the spotlight focused on what truly matters — the music, the message, and the movement.
