Chioma Adeleke, wife of Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Davido, has reportedly parted ways with her manager, Ubi Franklin.
The news was shared by Nigerian journalist Stella Dimoko Korkus via an Instagram post on Monday, revealing that Chioma made the decision to dismiss Ubi due to mounting allegations of financial mismanagement. According to Stella, Chioma became frustrated with the constant rumors about Ubi’s alleged debts, which reportedly run into millions.
A source close to the situation shared, “Ubi Franklin has been facing widespread criticism, with claims of owing large sums to multiple individuals. It’s become a highly embarrassing situation for Chioma, who felt she had no choice but to sever ties with him. The insider questioned, ‘How can one person owe so many people and not repay them? It’s truly humiliating.'”
Further adding to the tension, it was noted that neither Davido nor any member of the 30BG crew acknowledged Ubi’s birthday recently, a stark contrast to their usual public displays of support for him on social media.
This fallout follows a separate controversy involving Ubi and Nigerian singer Spyro. Spyro accused Ubi of scamming him after he was invited to perform at a show under the pretense that Davido had arranged it. Following the performance, Spyro claimed he was never paid the agreed $5,000, prompting Ubi to respond with accusations that Spyro owed him money. Ubi explained he had withheld the payment to settle a debt Spyro had with him, particularly a ₦2 million balance for a car deal Ubi had facilitated.
The back-and-forth between Ubi and Spyro sparked mixed reactions from the public, with some questioning the involvement of Davido’s name in the dispute. In response, Davido apologized for his name being dragged into the drama.
