Tragic Discovery of Children’s Bodies Sparks Outrage in Tamale Community
Residents of Kakpayili, a community in the Tamale metropolis of the Northern Region, were shocked by the grim discovery of two decomposed bodies of three-year-old boys. Found abandoned in a vehicle behind the residence of local resident Mallam Madaha, suspicions arose that the children might have been victims of ritualistic murder.
Assemblyman Hafiz Andani of the Kakpayili Electoral area reported that the boys had gone missing the previous Saturday. Despite a thorough community search, their whereabouts remained unknown until a formal police report was filed two days later.
“We reported the case to the police on the 25th after they went missing on the 22nd,” explained Alhaji Hafiz.
Residents had informed the area chief that the boys were last seen near Mallam Madaha’s home. Consequently, the chief summoned Mallam Madaha to the GumaNaa palace for questioning.
“Some residents reported seeing the children around his house before they disappeared, so the chief called him in for questioning,” Alhaji Hafiz elaborated.
Both Mallam Madaha and his wife denied any involvement in the crime, but their statements failed to quell community unrest. Amid escalating tension, the chief sought police assistance, leading to Mallam Madaha being escorted to the police station.
“After the chief called in the police, they took him to the station. However, news of his interviews around 4 pm fueled more agitation,” Alhaji Hafiz added.
Following further searches, the bodies of the boys were tragically discovered in a car behind Mallam Madaha’s house. Outraged by the discovery, residents vented their anger by setting fire to and vandalizing Mallam Madaha’s property.
In response to the incident, the assemblyman called for justice to be served swiftly for the innocent boys.
“We demand justice for the boys. We do not want a repeat of what happened to the Takoradi girls here. It doesn’t matter who the perpetrator is—whether a community leader, political figure, or otherwise—justice must prevail,” he emphasized.
The community is mourning the loss of the children and seeks answers and accountability following this heartbreaking tragedy.
