A counter-protest in support of Nigeria’s electoral body has erupted outside the building where votes are being counted in the capital, Abuja.
Tens of protesters are demonstrating their support for the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec), which has been accused of conducting a non-transparent election.
Pro-Inec protesters are also carrying placards, one of which urges “Nigerians to stand up for democracy,” while another advises Inec to “finish your job” as tensions rise over the results.
This morning, three opposition parties demanded that the results are annulled and new elections held.
The announcement of official results is set to begin soon here at the collation center.
