He has bipolar disorder, according to Jeff Garlin.
The 60-year-old actor revealed his diagnosis in an open but succinct Instagram post on Tuesday.
One day prior to the debut of “The Goldbergs'” Season 10, it was revealed that Murray Goldberg, the patriarch played by Garlin, had been killed off.
“Bipolar is a motherf–ker,” he wrote. “Sometimes it’s just too much to deal with. I’m doing the best I can. This is the first time that I’ve opened up about this. #bipolar.”
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actor revealed last year that, while not being let go from the show, he had been the focus of multiple human resources inquiries over a three-year period due to his behavior on set.
Garlin recently acknowledged that the foul language he had used on-site had nearly cost him his job.
When asked at the time, he told The Post, “I was saying some very stupid silly things that I can’t think that anyone would find offensive but to each his own.”
Due to claims of misconduct and “abusive” behavior on set, the stand-up comedian unexpectedly quit the series in December of last year while it was still in production.
An unnamed “Goldbergs” staff member at the time told Deadline that the actor “is incredibly verbally and emotionally abusive.”
According to reports, Garlin’s unsolicited hugs and allegedly derogatory remarks outraged members of the cast and staff of the long-running ABC sitcom.
Wendi McLendon-Covey, who plays Garlin’s on-screen wife, seems to be the only member of staff who won’t be missed by his absence.
