Halima Abubakar Speaks Out on Health Struggles and Betrayal
Renowned Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has opened up about her ongoing health battles and the financial strain that has come with them.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, she shared her frustration over people doubting the severity of her illness, despite her ongoing struggle to stay strong.
“I’m Not Okay, But I Keep Pushing”
Abubakar revealed that while many assume she’s fine because she posts pictures online, the reality is far different.
“People are confused about what’s really happening. The truth is, I’m not feeling well, but I’ve learned to stay strong. I’m just putting on a brave face,” she said.
She also addressed skepticism surrounding her condition, questioning why some refuse to believe she is genuinely unwell.
“How can someone say I’m lying about being sick? I’ve been going to a top Turkish hospital in Nigeria. This isn’t me. I don’t understand why people doubt me,” she lamented.
Feeling Abandoned by Nollywood and Close Friends
The actress didn’t hold back on her disappointment towards the entertainment industry and those she once considered friends.
“You pushed me out of Nollywood, but the betrayal keeps coming. Do you think a sane person would fake an illness?” she asked.
She further revealed that her illness forced her to step away from acting for over six years, leaving her feeling isolated and unheard.
“My best friend even claims I’m lying to the public, yet we don’t even live in the same place. You never came to check on me, not once,” she added.
“What More Do You Want from Me?”
Exhausted by the scrutiny, Abubakar questioned why people continue to treat her harshly.
“It’s been over six years since I last acted in a movie. What do you all want? Do you want me to give up? To break completely? I’ve done three MRI scans already. Can’t you see how I look?” she said, heartbroken.
Her emotional outpouring has sparked conversations about the treatment of actors facing personal struggles, leaving many fans rallying behind her in support.
