Trump says he’s been ‘indicated’ and that it is ‘so sad.’
Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States, has been “INDICATED.”
At least, that’s what he said in a rant on Truth Social, his social media platform.
Trump’s true meaning is that he has been “indicted.”
A New York grand jury voted on Thursday, March 30, 2023, to indict(Opens in a new tab) the former president. The charges have not yet been unsealed. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump was under investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office for his alleged involvement in a “hush money payment scheme” involving adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Trump has been ranting on Truth Social about a potential indictment for weeks, following rumors of an investigation into the alleged scheme and subsequent cover-up. So, when word of the indictment broke, it was only a matter of time before the former president responded with some more tweets.
“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at an All-Time High,” Trump began his first Truth Social post of the evening, in an attached screenshot(Opens in a new tab) of his standard press release statements.
“These Thugs and Radical Left Monsters just INDICATED the 45th President of the United States of America…” Trump published (Opens in a new tab). “THIS IS A NATIONAL ATTACK THE LIKES OF WHICH WE HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE.”
“SO SAD!” he exclaimed.
The news of his indictment comes just one day after Trump predicted that he would not be indicted in a Truth Social post.
“I HAVE GAINED SUCH RESPECT FOR THIS GRAND JURY, & PERHAPS EVEN THE GRAND JURY SYSTEM AS A WHOLE,” he posted(Opens in a new tab) on March 29. “THE EVIDENCE IS SO OVERWHELMING IN MY FAVOR, & SO RIDICULOUSLY BAD FOR THE HIGHLY PARTISAN & HATEFUL DISTRICT ATTORNEY, THAT THE GRAND JURY IS SAYING, HOLD ON, WE ARE NOT A RUBBER STAMP, WHICH MOST GRAND JURIES ARE BRANDED AS BEING, WE ARE NOT GOING TO VOTE AGAINST A PREPONDERANCE OF EVIDENCE OR AGAINST LARGE NUMBERS OF LEGAL SCHOLARS ALL SAYING THERE IS NO CASE HERE. This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.
