President Bola Tinubu emphasized the ongoing reforms aimed at eliminating past challenges within Nigeria’s business environment during a Nigeria-Qatar Business and Investment Forum in Doha on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
Addressing Qatari investors, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to combat corruption vigorously and create a favorable business climate. He urged investors not to engage in bribery with Nigerian government officials and assured swift action against any corrupt practices.
“I am here to assure you that reforms are underway, disregarding past obstacles. Any challenges experienced previously are now in the past, and the future holds no barriers,” Tinubu affirmed.
Highlighting Nigeria’s resolve to change its perception of corruption, President Tinubu encouraged investors not to let outdated beliefs hinder their investment decisions.
“Do not succumb to bribery demands. Report any such incidents to us. Nigeria is shedding its past and focusing on the present and future. Let not perceptions deter your investment interests. We are serious about transforming our investment landscape. We are clearing hurdles now and will continue to do so. We assure you of seamless investment flow in and out of our country. Bring your investments,” Tinubu urged.
He underscored significant strides in combating corruption and insecurity, citing the appointment of Nuhu Ribadu, a renowned anti-corruption advocate, as National Security Adviser.
“We have a globally recognized anti-corruption champion as our National Security Adviser. Nigeria is open for business, and your investments are secure with us. We have reputable individuals driving our nation forward. Together, we can foster fruitful discussions and advance our goals,” Tinubu affirmed.
President Tinubu emphasized the pivotal role of individuals in nation-building, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s ability to achieve greatness.
“Our nation thrives on the caliber of its people. We have exceptional individuals poised to drive our nation forward. We are ready,” he concluded.
