A boat carrying migrants capsized off the coast of Libya, leaving around 30 people missing and presumed dead.
Alarm Phone, a humanitarian organization, claims they would have survived if Europe had not decided to let them drown.
After being contacted by migrants on the boat on Saturday, the charity said it notified authorities in Libya, Italy, and Malta.
The vessel was in the Libyan search and rescue zone, according to the Italian coastguard, and was difficult to reach due to bad weather.
The Libyans stated that they did not have any available boats to send.
The right-wing government of Italy, led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, has come under fire for failing to act quickly to save the migrants.
