Even though Drake is one of the most successful rappers today, he has regrets about some of his past lyrics.
During an interview with Lil Yachty, the Toronto rapper revealed two things he regrets rapping about in his songs, the first of which is his age.
On his Views track “Weston Road Flows,” he stated that he intends to retire at the age of 35. “I’m assuming everyone’s under 35 / That’s when I plan to retire, man, it’s already funded,” he raps.
In retrospect, the now 36-year-old admits that he thought 35 was “really old” and shudders when he hears the lyric. “I despise hearing that nonsense,” he said. “It’s not that sick to think it’s so wavy to be young, ’cause I’m here now.”
He also regrets rapping the names of his ex-wives, not realizing the impact it had on them.
“That, and sometimes when I’ve said girls’ names in songs, those are two things that I look back on and think, maybe I could have done without shitting on people for their age or disrupting someone’s life,” he explained.

Drake claims he never had “ill intent,” but admits he may have harmed others.
“I had someone once say to me, it’s not necessarily what you’re saying about me, it’s the fact that you said it,” he explained. “You have no idea what it does to me. You don’t know who my boyfriend is at the time, or what my family knows or doesn’t know, and if you express any form of discontent for me in a song and call me by name, all of a sudden I’m left to pick up the pieces of my own life that I’ve tried to build up for myself.”
He’s tried to stop, but he also wants to be truthful. “I’ve tried my hardest to stop doing that, but I also like to be honest with the music, so it’s a tug of war.”
When Yachty suggested that Drake was inventing girl names for his songs, Drake responded, “I don’t think I’ve ever made up a girl’s name.”
In addition, he discussed his “graceful exit” from rap and revealed that he once underwent three hours of prosthetics to disguise himself as an 80-year-old man in order to support a friend in court.
