Over the recent weekend, Drake surprised fans with his newest facial tattoo, which bears the word “miskeen” in Arabic script, delicately placed above his right eyebrow.
Initially unveiled by photographer Brent Kore on Instagram, the term translates to “poor” or “misfortunate” in Arabic, holding particular significance within Toronto’s sizable Somali community.
This latest addition is not Drake’s first venture into facial ink. Previously, he adorned the initials “SG” under his left eye as a tribute to his mother, Sandra Gale. Other notable facial tattoos include a heartfelt homage to the late fashion designer Virgil Abloh on his forearm, portraying Abloh throwing a kite down a Louis Vuitton runway during Paris Fashion Week in 2018.
While his face tells a story, Drake’s body art collection is a canvas of personal and influential figures. From portraits of Aaliyah and Sade to tributes to his father Dennis Graham, as well as sports icons like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, Drake’s ink reflects a diverse range of inspirations. Notably, there are also tattoos dedicated to his son Adonis, producer Noah “40” Shebib, and a Beatles-inspired piece symbolizing his journey in the music industry.
In other developments, Drake released “For All The Dogs Scary Hours Edition” on Friday, featuring six new songs and a collaboration with J. Cole on “Evil Ways.” The album is making waves in terms of sales, with projections estimating between 110,000 to 130,000 album-equivalent units, according to REVOLT.
During a recent discussion, Drake shared insights into the spontaneous release of “Scary Hours 3,” expressing confidence in the body of work. He stated, “I feel no need to appease anybody. I feel so confident about the body of work I just dropped that I know I can go and disappear for whatever… six months, a year, two years.” The artist conveyed a sense of creative flow reminiscent of his experience with the 2015 album “If You’re Reading This [It’s Too Late].” It’s a feeling akin to being on an artistic high, he explained.
