Brazilian shot-stopper Ederson has sealed a permanent move from Manchester City to Fenerbahçe, closing the curtain on an unforgettable eight years at the Etihad.
The 31-year-old arrived in Istanbul earlier today to finalise the paperwork, with the transfer awaiting international clearance. In a statement, City hailed him as “one of the most successful players in the club’s history.”
Since joining from Benfica in 2017, Ederson has been a rock between the posts, racking up 372 appearances and recording 122 Premier League clean sheets — more than any other keeper in City’s history.
His medal collection is nothing short of remarkable: six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, three Community Shields, and the club’s first-ever triumphs in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. With six league titles, he stands alongside Bruce Grobbelaar as the most decorated goalkeeper in English top-flight history.
Reflecting on his exit, Ederson said:
“I leave Manchester City proud of everything we achieved together. Wearing this shirt has been the highlight of my career. Once a Blue, always a Blue.”
City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, also paid tribute:
“No goalkeeper has ever won more Premier League titles. That says everything about his consistency and class. Ederson has etched his name permanently into the story of this club.”
Beyond the silverware, Ederson redefined the modern goalkeeper’s role with his distribution, composure, and authority in goal. He also picked up three Premier League Golden Gloves during his time in England — further proof of his lasting impact.
