In response to the social outcry, Force Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, clarified that there is no specific law in Nigeria criminalizing cross-dressing.
Adejobi emphasized that while cross-dressing itself isn’t illegal, suspicions arise regarding other activities some cross-dressers may be involved in, which could potentially violate Nigerian laws. He stressed the importance of substantial evidence before prosecuting individuals, highlighting that such offenses are recognized and punishable under Nigerian laws.
