Cubana Chief Priest is scheduled to appear before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is preparing to arraign Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, over allegations of abusing the naira at a social gathering.
The EFCC has filed a three-count charge against Okechukwu, and he is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
According to Channels TV, the charge was filed on April 4 by the EFCC’s prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), along with seven other lawyers representing the chairman of the commission.
The first count of the charge alleges that Okechukwu tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them during a social event at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024, for a period of two hours. This contravenes Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
In the second count, it is alleged that Okechukwu engaged in similar conduct during a social event in Lagos in 2020, also spraying funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) for a period of two hours.
The third count accuses Okechukwu of committing the same offence during a social event in Lagos in January 2024, once again spraying funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira).
This development follows the recent sentencing of the controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, to a six-month jail term for the same offence.
