Emirates Airlines has declared that it will recommence flight operations and services to Nigeria starting from October 1, 2024. Adnan Kazim, the Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of the airline, conveyed this update in a statement issued on Thursday from Dubai.
According to Kazim, the airline will offer a daily service connecting Lagos and Dubai, thus providing passengers with enhanced choices and connectivity from Nigeria’s largest city to Dubai and beyond.
The service will be conducted utilizing a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. EK783 will depart Dubai at 0945hrs, arriving in Lagos at 1520hrs; while the return flight EK784 will depart Lagos at 1730hrs and reach Dubai at 0510hrs the following day. Bookings are now open on emirates.com or through travel agents.
Expressing gratitude, Kazim conveyed the airline’s appreciation to the Nigerian government for their collaboration and assistance in reinstating this route, eagerly anticipating the return of passengers onboard.
He remarked, “We are thrilled to resume our services to Nigeria. The Lagos-Dubai route has always been a favorite among Nigerian customers, and we aim to reconnect leisure and business travelers to Dubai and onwards to our extensive network of over 140 destinations.”
With the resumption of operations to Nigeria, Emirates extends its services to 19 gateways in Africa with 157 weekly flights from Dubai, along with additional access to 130 regional points in Africa through its codeshare and interline partnerships with other airlines.
Emirates Airlines ceased flight services to Nigeria in October 2022 due to challenges in repatriating funds from the country. This suspension marked the second interruption in operations within the year, following an initial suspension in August 2022. The airline cited $85 million in revenue trapped in Nigeria as the reason behind the October suspension.
