Chelsea have reportedly reached a long-term agreement with outgoing Leicester City coach, Enzo Maresca, expected to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2029. The deal includes an option for Maresca to extend for an additional year, potentially making his tenure last until 2030.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will pay Leicester City €11 million in compensation before finalizing the deal. Romano stated, “Chelsea have agreed terms with Enzo Maresca as their new manager. The contract is valid until June 2029, with a five-year deal that includes an option to extend until June 2030. Chelsea will pay over €10m to Leicester City, and it’s just a matter of time before the signing is official.”
Enzo Maresca began his managerial career at Manchester City, coaching the club’s Elite Development Squad from 2020 to 2021 and leading them to a Premier League 2 title. In 2021, he moved to Parma but was sacked within the year after failing to secure promotion to the first division. He then returned to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant coach until 2023, when Leicester City appointed him as their head coach.
Maresca’s first season at Leicester City was highly successful, as he led the team to win the EFL Championship and secure promotion back to the Premier League. His impressive performance at Leicester made him a top target for Chelsea, who recently parted ways with coach Mauricio Pochettino.
With this new chapter at Chelsea, Maresca is poised to bring his coaching expertise and leadership to Stamford Bridge, aiming to build on his recent successes.
