Erik ten Hag Plans Managerial Return After Summer Break
Former Ajax and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made it clear that he won’t be stepping back into management until July 1. Since his departure from Old Trafford in October, he has taken time to reflect on his next move in football.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s new head coach, Ruben Amorim, has struggled to find his footing, with the club currently sitting in an unexpected 15th place in the Premier League. The transition has been anything but smooth, as Amorim works to implement his tactical philosophy within the squad.
In an upcoming interview for SEG Stories, Ten Hag explained his decision to wait until the start of the new season before considering a new role. “I had already decided for myself that I’m not going to be involved in any team until July 1,” he said.
Despite stepping away, Ten Hag admits that he still feels a strong connection to Manchester United. “If there’s one thing I miss, it’s the atmosphere and energy of Old Trafford,” he shared.
Reflecting on the constant drive for success in football, he added, “You’re always chasing a goal, but you never really reach it. We’ve had incredible moments, but there’s always room for improvement. Simply doing well is never enough—there’s always a way to be better.”
As July approaches, all eyes will be on Ten Hag’s next move. Will he return to a top European club, or will he take on a new challenge elsewhere? Time will tell.
