Renowned broadcaster, diplomat, and corporate icon Christopher Kolade has passed away at the age of 92.
His family confirmed the news in a statement on Thursday, revealing that the respected elder statesman died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
“We are thankful for his incredible life of faith and service, and are grateful for God’s abundant blessings,” the family said.
Born in 1932 in Erin-Oke, Osun State, to an Anglican missionary father, Kolade built a remarkable life defined by discipline, integrity, and a deep sense of duty. He attended Government College, Ibadan, and later earned his degree from Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone.
His professional journey began in broadcasting, where he rose through the ranks to become Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, earning admiration for his strong ethical standards and leadership.
Kolade later transitioned into the corporate world, serving as Chief Executive and Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, where his visionary leadership and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact.
As Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, he represented the nation with honor and distinction, further solidifying his reputation as a principled diplomat and leader.
Beyond his public service, Kolade was passionate about education and values-driven leadership. He taught Corporate Governance and Human Resources Management at Lagos Business School and Leadership and Conflict Management at the Pan-Atlantic University’s School of Media & Communication.
He also served as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Pan-Atlantic University, and later as Chancellor of McPherson University in Ogun State.
Throughout his life, Kolade championed integrity in both public and private sectors. He chaired initiatives such as the Integrity Organisation Ltd GTE and The Convention on Business Integrity Ltd GTE, using his influence to promote ethical governance and accountability in Nigeria.
A man of wisdom and unwavering principles, Christopher Kolade leaves behind a legacy of leadership, humility, and service that will continue to inspire generations.
