According to the president of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, there are those who pose as politicians in an effort to enlist young people as jihadist fighters.
Since 2017, the extremists have been conducting strikes in the nation’s north.
The president further stated that the government was aware of the problem and anybody discovered to have been involved will be punished and sentenced while speaking at a military graduation ceremony.
When we catch them, “those [people], their place is the jail,” Mr. Nyusi remarked.
He also emphasized that his army had made significant progress against the country’s northern terrorists, which had led to the capture of some jihadists, their leaders, and the weapons they had been using.
