Support and condolences pour in for Cameroonian-French boxer and mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou following the heartbreaking news of his 15-month-old son Kobe’s passing.
Ngannou, a former UFC champion, took to Twitter and Instagram on Monday night to share his grief: “It’s too early to say goodbye, but he’s gone. My little boy, my buddy, my Kobe, was full of life and joy. Now, he’s gone. I called out his name repeatedly, but he doesn’t answer. I was my best self with him, and now I feel lost. Life is so cruel to strike us where it hurts the most.”
Irish fighter Conor McGregor joined others in offering comfort to Ngannou, expressing, “I pray that God has the most peaceful and secure place in heaven for him, until you reunite.”
Fans have praised Ngannou for his courage and vulnerability in seeking support openly. “Please, if you have any advice, help me because I’m lost and don’t know how to cope,” he appealed.
Ngannou, aged 37, left Cameroon for France in 2012. He gained worldwide recognition in mixed martial arts (MMA) before venturing into boxing.
