Starting September 1, 2024, the cost of obtaining a Nigerian passport will see an increase. This adjustment was announced by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) spokesperson, Kenneth Udo, as part of efforts to uphold the quality and security of the Nigerian passport.
Under the new pricing, the 32-page passport with a 5-year validity will now cost Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000), up from the previous Thirty-five Thousand Naira (N35,000). Similarly, the 64-page passport, which is valid for 10 years, will be priced at One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000), rising from Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000).
For Nigerians living abroad, the fees remain the same.
The NIS acknowledges that this increase may cause some inconvenience to those planning to apply for or renew their passports. However, they assure the public that their commitment to providing transparent and high-quality services remains unwavering.
