In August 2023, Cardi B and Offset faced a swatting incident at their Sandy Springs, Georgia residence.
The incident came to light with the release of bodycam footage by TMZ on Monday, January 8. Swatting, a risky prank involving false emergency calls, prompted the police to respond to the former couple’s home following a report of a shooting at a “famous rapper’s house.”
Upon reaching the location, authorities discovered Derrick Cephus, Offset’s uncle, who was house-sitting. Fortunately, Cardi B and Offset were not present during the incident. Law enforcement found no real emergency and departed once they realized the call was a hoax.
In the past month, Cardi and the artist behind “SAY MY GRACE” faced a lawsuit related to a Beverly Hills residence they once inhabited. The landlord claimed they fell behind on rent and utility payments, vacating the property without notice in October 2023.
According to TMZ, the owners discovered substantial property damage upon the couple’s departure, including permanent scratches on tile floors, damaged rugs and curtains, broken furniture, wall holes, and burn marks on items like tables, counters, and cabinets. The alleged damages were estimated to exceed $85,000.
This news emerged shortly after Cardi revealed her separation from Offset. The couple, who secretly married in 2017 and shares two children, faced challenges in their relationship, including accusations of infidelity and a near-divorce in 2020.
Despite the breakup, Cardi and Offset were seen together on New Year’s Day. However, Cardi clarified that their reunion was not a reconciliation but rather emphasized the need to address their relationship issues. She stated, “I don’t consider that we’re back together because the answer [to]getting back together is not a good night at the club and fking [all]night long… We need to work on our st. We need to work on our communication.”
Both artists are actively preparing for their upcoming albums. Cardi teased new music at a Miami club, hinting at the release of her highly anticipated second LP by the end of 2024. Meanwhile, Offset announced the potential debut of his third solo project as early as February.
