The highly anticipated nominations for the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) are out, with Lisabi: The Uprising and Seven Doors emerging as top contenders.
Directed by Adedimeji Lateef, Lisabi: The Uprising leads with an impressive 10 nominations, including ‘Best Movie,’ ‘Best Actor,’ ‘Best Art Direction,’ ‘Best Cinematography,’ and ‘Best Indigenous Language – West Africa.’
Not far behind, Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors secured eight nominations, including a spot in the newly introduced ‘Best Score/Music’ category. Other standout nominees include Skeleton Coast, Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre, and Inside Life.
This year’s awards will recognize excellence across 28 categories—some determined by a panel of judges led by esteemed filmmaker Femi Odugbemi, while 10 categories will be decided by public votes. Fans can cast their votes on the Africa Magic website until May 4.
The 2025 AMVCA will unfold over four spectacular days, from May 7 to 10, spotlighting achievements in film, culture, fashion, music, and African entertainment at large.
