One day after his father, President Yoweri Museveni, ordered him to cease discussing politics on Twitter, Ugandan General Muhoozi Kainerugaba asserts that “no one will prevent him from anything.”
A public apology and diplomatic gatherings to reaffirm ties were held in response to Gen Kainerugaba’s divisive remarks from a fortnight earlier that threatened to attack neighboring Kenya. The president’s involvement came in response to those tweets.
The president said on Monday that the general would refrain from discussing “other countries and partisan politics of Uganda” on Twitter.
A few hours later, though, Gen Kainerugaba responded by questioning whether such a gag was “some kind of joke”.
I hear some journalist from Kenya asked my father to ban me from Twitter? Is that some kind of joke?? I am an adult and NO ONE will ban me from anything!

Gen. Kainerugaba is well-known for his controversial tweets, which have included endorsements of both the rebels in Tigray who are battling the Ethiopian government and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
