Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has been recognized with honorary citizenship by the State of Georgia in the U.S.
Obi shared the news on his đ page after taking part in the Black Congressional Week in Washington, D.C.
His day began at the U.S. Senate Kennedy Caucus Room during the Congressional Black Caucus Week Reception, hosted by Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. He mentioned that Senator Warnock invited him to share his thoughts on Africaâs democracy and development.
Obi also had a sit-down with Georgia Power, the stateâs largest private energy company. There, he exchanged ideas on power generation and distribution with the companyâs CEO, Kim Clark. Describing the meeting, he noted it was both engaging and insightful.
Later, he joined the One Voice Africa event, a platform focused on the rights and dignity of Black immigrants. At the gathering, Obi encouraged participants to take stronger interest in fostering leadership and governance across Africa, stressing that the continentâs potential remains vast when guided by responsible leaders.
Reflecting on the day, Obi described the honorary citizenship conferred on him by Georgia as the highlight. He said the recognition was a reminder of his commitment to learning, service, and his vision of a renewed Nigeria.
