Ghana Food Festival 2023, a carnival that will bring together food, arts, and entertainment lovers, has been launched in Accra.
Pen it Multimedia, an Accra-based digital media and events management company launched the initiative to promote Ghana and its culinary culture around the world.
It is set to take place on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra, and will feature local cuisines from across the country’s sixteen (16) regions, among other things.
Ghana Food Festival will also provide a platform for entrepreneurs and businesses in the non-food production chain, as well as made-in-Ghana products, to network, form partnerships, trade, and sell their wares.
Pen it Multimedia on Ghana Food Festival
Mr. Emmanuel Forson, Founder, and CEO of Pen it Multimedia Limited, stated that the event is intended to celebrate the country’s culinary culture.
According to him, Ghana is endowed with healthy delicacies, and as such, citizens should be encouraged to consume locally produced foods and avoid what he refers to as “junk.”
Mr. Forson stated that the Ghana Food Festival will also help the government’s efforts to boost tourism in the country.
“President Akufo-Addo launched the #DestinationGhana initiative to whip up interest among travelers around the globe to look to Ghana to satisfy their leisure and vacation desires.
“If you look at it critically, food tourism is one area that could attract foreigners to Ghana besides the tourist centers and the country’s peaceful atmosphere. “The purpose of our event is to bring foreigners into the country,” he explained.
He also stated that foreign food and non-food vendors would be given the opportunity to exhibit their products to the audience, which he claims will add a sense of diversity to the event.
Side Attraction
Ghana Food Festival will offer a variety of local cuisines to its distinguished attendees, including fufu, tuo-zafi, akple, banku, tubani, and Ghana’s irresistible and world-renowned rice meal, Ghana Jollof. Waakye, kenkey, and beans, also known as red red, omutuo, ampesi, and fried yam, will be among the others.
Ghanaian beverages and snacks like hausa koko, tom brown, roasted corn and plantains, sobolo, asaana, pito, and others will be available for purchase at the festival.
Mr. Forson stated that the event was open to the public and encouraged Ghanaians and other nationalities to attend in order for it to be a success.
He explained that the event would include live band music, a cooking and eating competition, a bouncy castle, a gaming arena for kids, and other indoor and fun games.
“In general, the Ghana Food Festival will provide business and networking opportunities, as well as partnerships between vendors, exhibitors, and attendees,” said the CEO of Pen it Multimedia Limited.
He urged food vendors, businesses involved in the manufacture of made-in-Ghana products and services, as well as international entities, to reserve their stands in order for the event to be a success.
