Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for reelection as a member of parliament in the Asawase Constituency, has criticized the motivation behind the early-year changes in the Minority’s leadership.
He believes that he is the target of the changes that the then-recently elected national executives are supposed to have planned and implemented.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson and Emmanuel Armah-Buah respectively replaced him as Minority Chief Whip and Minority Leader, respectively, Haruna Iddrisu and Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, respectively.
The Asawase MP told reporters the next day, “I can tell you it was part of the strategy to get me out,” after winning the NDC’s primary elections on May 13 and securing his victory.
“No mature politician would deny that was a part of the plan to get me out,”
He further supported his suspicion by pointing up that Dr. Avedzi was no longer running for reelection in Tamale South, while Haruna Iddrisu was running unopposed.
“As I keep saying, God is not their village leader, and He doesn’t hate people because you hate them. I was the only one who had a rival at the time, so doing that was part of the plan to get me out. God does not disapprove of people because you do. He examines our hearts.
